An exciting and developing assignment that means you can make a difference for children and young people. The field operation is part of the preventive and promotional work aimed at children, young people, and their parents.

As a field assistant, your work will include participating in various networks and collaboration forums such as SSPF and local BRÅ. It is also important to actively establish contacts with other networks based on young people's interests and the opportunity for a safe and meaningful leisure time.

In the role of field assistant, you will work preventively with young people aged approximately 12-24 to prevent issues such as crime, substance abuse, mental health problems, or bullying.

The field group works outreach and preventively with young people at the individual, group, and structural levels. Your work with young people will take place in places such as schools, youth centers, and public environments. As a field assistant, you are a resource and support for young people in Sollefteå Municipality.

A central part of social fieldwork is to identify and pay attention to concerns regarding children and young people. A field worker is obliged to immediately report to social services if they become aware of or suspect that a child is in danger.

As a field assistant, you will work throughout the municipality, both individually and in teams, which requires good collaboration skills as well as the ability to work independently. You will closely collaborate and cooperate with schools, youth centers, citizens, police, and community organizations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a field assistant, you will work with the following tasks:

• Be a visible and accessible adult in young people's everyday lives (for example, in schools, youth centers, and public environments).
• Create trusting relationships and act as a link between young people and societal support services.
• Pay attention to signals of mental health issues, substance abuse, crime, or social vulnerability.
• Have a low threshold for conversations and early interventions to prevent problems from escalating.
• Map where and when young people gather and identify places where risky behaviors occur.
• Collaborate with other functions that work closely with children and young people to create safety.
• Support young people in finding meaningful activities and positive contexts.
• Work on relationship-building with parents/important adults and in close contact with community organizations, conducting informational meetings/trainings based on needs and requests.

You will work days, evenings, and weekends according to a schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are an educated behavioral scientist, social worker, leisure educator, or have another education or work experience deemed equivalent by the employer. You have previous experience working with children/youth.

We consider it an advantage if you have:

• experience working with fieldwork, outreach activities, or work with at-risk youth.
• experience collaborating within and outside a municipal organization.
• experience collaborating with other authorities, such as the police, child and adolescent psychiatry, social services, and schools.
• fluency in languages other than Swedish and English.

As a person, you have the ability to build relationships and personal maturity. You have good judgment in various situations and an empathetic ability.

You are self-reliant and confident in your role, taking responsibility and initiative to connect the youth's needs with the right support measures, driving development and change both with the young people you meet and within your unit and the field.

We also appreciate knowledge of relevant legislation in the area, training in motivational interviewing, and awareness of different life situations and how they affect young people's behavior and needs.

As a field assistant, you will be the face of the municipality's support services, and you need to have a high level of professionalism in your interactions with children, young people, and their adults. You easily establish contact with children and young people and are a good role model for our youth, moving naturally in vulnerable environments. Field assistants collaborate externally and internally, which means you need to be skilled at cooperating and building relationships with different professions and target groups.

A driver's license (B) is a requirement.
